Credit Card Debt Relief Program Introduced By Obama

There is lot of chaos and misconception about Obama’s new credit card debt relief program. Let us, however, try to understand what it is, and how it could help us.

As promised by our President, Obama has eventually introduced the new credit card debt relief program to get people out of financial mess and reduce their debt considerably. Now this program cannot be considered to be the best debt reduction plan, nor can this is the best refuge for people under debt. However, we can definitely use this credit card debt relief program to get our debts reduced up to 50-60% or even 70% in some cases.

But how can this be possible? Why would creditors agree to reduce their profit? The answer may seem to be quite tricky, but try to grasp it. When Barack Obama was selected to be our President in 2009, he had promised to get this country out of financial mess. By country, he was not pointing only toward big companies, but small firms and individuals as well.

A huge amount of stimulus money was injected in the economy. And this money helped most big companies to get out of financial mess. So, half of his promise was achieved. Now, it’s time to help individuals and small companies.

Secondly, out of the total stimulus package, a huge chuck was given to financial institutions, due to which they were able to get out of the mess. Now is their time to pay back the debt.

What benefits a consumer would get?

  1. You can get your debt reduced up to 60%, if the total repayment amount exceeds $10,000.
  2. If you will have to file for bankruptcy due to this debt, your score would be affected.
  3. After a long financial struggle, you now get time to breathe and plan your finances.

Now, you don’t have to call your creditors over and over again to write off some unexplained charges or to negotiate debt repayment. They would be ready to work with you on how much they can reduce and how it can be repaid.
