Apple’s New iPad Useful for Business?
For Apple (AAPL), last quarter was quite solid. And with the introduction of new iPad this week, the stock seems to be a steadfast yielding source for investors.
One cannot deny that businesses all around the world are operated through technology and a diminutive progress affects most of the industries. However, the transformation of personal computer into a tablet is a big revolution. I am quite eager about how this tablet would affect mid-sized, big, new and old companies. I am not referring about the advantages and disadvantages of a product (you will find it abundantly on the web this week). My concern is – will we witness a massive transformation in the way things are done today?
Money spent on Marketing

Though this device is quite nano, but I am sure it would attract big money. No, I ain’t talking about money through advertising. I am referring to the huge sum spent by companies on marketing. According to a recent study, companies spend around $66 billion a year to market themselves. And this device, iPad, will be a huge platform to market products and companies in the impending decade. However, it’s too early to predict an accurate amount. But I am sure it will play a vital role in marketing.
The modified way of digital reading
Newspapers are still existent. However, a large audience is exposed to world news through web. And this web-form reading was precise, short, and un-detailed. Obviously, we wouldn’t prefer reading long stories on our desktop or notebooks. Neither on our smartphones. Simply because we don’t enjoy reading on your work devices. However, we hope that iPad would be a consumer device and reading would be enjoyable and pleasing, or at least interesting. If this happens, we would business quite a big change in people associated with content.
Content, just a touch away
The minute device could be a huge success if Apple can manage to get in content. This would, initially, require paying content providers like New Your Times, or some other giants. But eventually it will be a complete package for consumers. People read tangible newspaper, work on their desktop while in office, use laptop at home, watch TV in their free time, and use mobile for communication. Why doesn’t somebody include everything in one single product? I know iPad cannot provide all these features. But encompassing even a couple them would be significantly beneficial.
Apple has always succeeded in providing ease and assistance to consumers. Let’s hope iPad continues on the legacy. However, I do see a few pitfalls.
Slow acceptance
Being most technologically advanced product, it would be definitely priced high. So, we cannot expect huge buying initially. Though this situation would be followed by inevitable price falls, it wouldn’t be earlier than 2012 that consumers will unreservedly buy this product.
Change in news?
Though I was talking much about content and news few minutes ago, I don’t really see many news publishers keen on being news partners of iPad. Newspapers are quite cheap but people want this service freely available on their desktop. It’s been avoided by most of the tech companies, and it very likely that Apple will do the same.
